SIFAT 2018 (Lineville, Alabama) - FAQs

JULY 8–13, 2018
COST: $450

Deadline to submit application: March 7, 2018

“SIFAT (servants in faith and technology) has the goal of exposing students to the living conditions and social injustice issues occurring in developing countries today. Through the exposure, we hope to plant a seed and empower those who intend to go back to their community and make an impact in some way.”

SIFAT is a third world simulation camp that helps teens prepare for going on overseas mission trips. This is a great opportunity for them to learn what’s it’s like in the states. The camp has actual set ups of third world countries.

We must have at least 15 students to attend.  This mission trip is open to incoming 7th graders–graduating seniors. All applicants can turn in their applications on or before March 7, 2018.

The cost to go on the trip is $450. This cost covers lodging, all meals while at camp, programming materials and supplies, t-shirt, guidebooks, camp staff, trip to and from Alabama. Students need to bring additional money to cover meals for the trip up and back. (Total of 4 meals)

What are the steps to apply for SIFAT?

1) Fill out the application and turn in your $75 registration fee by February 14.  Make checks payable to University Carillon UMC. Please put your child’s name on the memo line and SIFAT.

2) You will receive a release form from SIFAT that will need to be filled out and notarized. You will also have to have an EPIC release form filled out and notarized for transportation. This may be inconvenient to have two forms filled out, but it’s necessary for protection of your teens. (We’ll walk you through this process).

3) The EPIC staff will let you know when your application has been approved.

When is the money going to be due?

1) The first $75 is due when you turn in your application on or before March 7th.

2) $187.50 is due by March 14th.

3) The remaining $187.50 is due by April 22nd.

What if I unexpectedly can’t go on the trip after applying?

If this happens you will automatically forfeit the deposit. When you cancel at least 30 days in advance the registration amount minus $75 deposit can be refunded. If given less than 30-day notice prior to trip, the entire camp fee will be forfeited.
